William was born to the late Frank and Irma (Stewart) Robins on November 30, 1930, in Saginaw, Michigan. William married Ruth B. Herman in 1955. They were married 59 years until her death in July 2014. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. His family will miss him immensely and cherish all of their memories of him. William was a salesman at Fruehauf Trailers in Saginaw, MI for a number of years. In 1972, he went to work for McDonald Dairy/Country Fresh in Flint, MI. He was a transportation manager until his retirement in 1995. After retirement, William did handy man services for many clients and friends until just a few years ago. William also served in the United States Navy from 1951-1953, remaining active in the reserves. Some of William's favorite hobbies were woodworking and golfing, and he was quite good at both of these. He enjoyed fishing, camping and canoeing. For a number of years, William was a boy scout leader. He loved going on car rides, no matter the distance. He was a member of the Michigan Woodworkers Association, and was an active member of his church, Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Flushing. William loved his family, and he will be dearly missed.
William leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving children, David (Lori) Robins, Barbara Robins, Nancy (James) Adams, Laura (Floyd) LaParr and Christine McCurdy; cherished grandchildren, Jamie, Alicia, Sarah and Billy; precious great grandchildren, Peyton, Gracyn, Ryleigh and Torandis; and dear special friend, Norma Warren.
William is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth and many family members and friends.
The family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made in William's honor to Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Flushing, or the Krapohl Senior Center Woodshop in Mt. Morris.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 13 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Flushing, Michigan at 10 am, with a memorial service to follow at 11 am. A luncheon will be held following the services for William.
