Mary was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Waelder, Texas. She enjoyed spending time with her family as often as possible. She loved shopping, going to the movies, eating out, playing cards, and most of all, she loved sharing hilarious life experiences with her children and grand-children. Mary was full of life and very humble. She grew up poor, but rich in love. She wouldn’t have had it any other way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose “Joe” Luna, Sr. and Bruna Garza Luna; husband of fifty-five years, Santana Velasquez; two brothers, Joe “Moon” Luna, Jr., Robert Luna, Sr.; one sister, Francisca Luna; son-in-law, Michael Anthony Caballero, Sr.
She is survived by one son – Guadalupe “Lupe” Velasquez (Rita) of Buda, four daughters – Melinda Caballero of Waelder, Lisa Brown (Roscellus Sr.) of Buda, JoAnn Ibarra (Adolph Gonzales) of Waelder, Stephanie Velasquez of Gonzales, seventeen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Caleb Ibarra, Chris Velasquez, Matthew Velasquez-Banda, Jason Velasquez-Banda, Roscellus Brown, Jr., Freddie Noyola, Victor Oruonyehu, and Zachary Velasquez.
A gathering to share memories of Mary will be held Wednesday, September 15, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Smith Funeral Home in Flatonia, Texas. A rosary will be recited following at 7:00 PM. A christian mass to celebrate the life of Mary will occur Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waelder, Texas. Burial will occur at Waelder Community Cemetery in Waelder, Texas.
