Roberta Joy Steflik was born December 6th, 1932 in New Milford Connecticut to Robert John Baker and Dorothy Baker. She was raised all across the United States alongside her sister, Marite as her father was a theater manager and the family had to relocate often for his job. Joy spent significant time during her childhood in both Oskaloosa, Iowa and New Milford, Connecticut where her grandparents resided.
She graduated from High School in Alexandria, Indiana in 1950 and went on to study education for two years at the University of Miami of Ohio.
Joy completed the last two years of her undergraduate studies at Florida State University. After teaching elementary school in Hamilton Ohio, she moved to Florida to be closer to her parents and her sister who had recently settled there. She began teaching in Bunnell elementary school and soon after, met her future husband of 66 years, Louis Steflik. The couple married on November 30th, 1957.
She is survived by her husband Louis Steflik, her two children, Martin Steflik and Holly Steflik and her three grandchildren, Esten Steflik-Fabec, Georgia Steflik-Fabec and Stacy Steflik. In addition to raising her children while Louie was busy farming, Joy owned and operated various gift shops in the Flagler beach area. She also had an interest in real-estate and was an active member of the Idlewood social club. She will be remembered for her love of the ocean, her generosity in her friendships, her zest for life, and her fun loving attitude.
She is deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends.
