As adolescents in our small town in Michigan, Bob and I spent time ice skating on Globe Pond, hiking the woods, and exploring the river. Then high school and cars came, and finally graduation, when we decided to join the Navy. We had different assignments for four years, but we still managed to get some visits in along the way. 

Within a few years after our discharge, we found ourselves living in the same town in Central Pennsylvania. During that time we both became fathers to daughters, so that time was great for shared family activities and quiet New Year's celebrations.

Later, living in different parts of the country kept us apart, but we still found occasions to visit and stay in touch over the years. 

Bob's work ethic, his home life, interests and hobbies, attested to his devotion to his family and friends.

All this is to say, I'm glad I knew Bob, and his great family Helen and Denise. I am saddened, my condolences go out. Yet also, the fond memories remain, for which I am glad. My thoughts are with Helen and family.
