After marriage he served in the Army Air Corps and was deployed to Japan as a Radio Operator. He spent time on Mt. Suribachi, in Iwo Jima, Japan. He returned to his wife and raised his four children in Rock Island, Illinois. He was an Industrial Engineer for International Harvester. He remained at Harvester until retirement.
Together they had four children, Hal Timothy (Pam) of Iowa, Seven Craig (Sandra) of Palm Coast, Florida, Pam April of Illinois, and Debra Claire Rexroth (Kenneth) of Illinois. Hal also had four grandchildren, Todd (Amber), Katie, Cory and Susan (Dave) and four great-grandchildren-all from Iowa.
Hal was a “Founding Member” and very active in his Church: Hammock Community Church of Palm Coast, Florida. His “Church Family” was very important in Hal’s life. Hal was preceded in death by his wife Trudy after 63 years of marriage and later by wife Mary Lou after 5 years of marriage. He also leaves his Dearly Loved Friend, Ann White, who loved him and mourns his passing.
He will be dearly missed by his family and also by his wonderful “Church Family” and fantastic neighbors.
Hal was buried on the church grounds after graveside services. He was accorded “Full Military Honors” with a motorcade-arranged by Ed Beier of American Legion Post 115 and Flagler County Sheriff Patrol assisted with the procession. Rev. Bill Duke was the officiant.
Due to COVID-19 services were modified. There will be a “Celebration of Life” in the future. Arrangements were made in the care of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home in Flagler Beach, Florida.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Hammock Community Church 5299 Ocean Shore Blvd, Palm Coast, FL 32137
