C. Sisco Deen of Flagler Beach, Florida passed away on August 31st at the age of 83. He was born on 18 April 1940, in Daytona Beach, Florida and grew up in Bunnell and Ormond Beach, Florida. Sisco graduated from Seabreeze High School in 1958, from Florida State University in 1962 (B.Music Education), and Central Michigan University (Masters, Public Administration). He took a commission in the US Air Force in 1963 and served for over 20 years until 1984 in various commands and locations, including Okinawa and Thailand during the Vietnam War period. While in highschool and university, Sisco kept Ormond Beaches safe as a member of the Ormond Beach Life Saving Corps from 1956 to 1962.
After retiring from the Air Force and commercial business ventures, he dedicated himself to improving his community through the Boy Scouts of America, American Legion, and state and local historical societies. His distinguished service to youth with the Boy Scouts of America was recognized in 1991 by earning the prestigious Silver Beaver award. As a member of the American Legion, Veteran of Foreign Wars, and Disabled American Veterans associations, as well as holding local post leadership duties, he actively supported the Florida Boys State program, frequently attending in Tallahassee during the week-long events for nearly 20 years. For the last 23 years Sisco is best known for his active involvement with and prolific contributions to the Florida State, Flagler County, Flagler Beach, and Palm Coast Historical Societies. His community service to Flagler County were recognized in 2017 by being named as the Veteran of the Year.
Sisco was predeceased by his mother, Margaret, and his father, Claude.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Gloria, his 3 sons (from a previous marriage), Devin and his wife Kate, with their children Sage, Scarlet, and Jasper; Brian and his children, Billy and Juliana; and Sisco and his fiance, Angela Henry, and his son, Evan, and her daughter, Taylor; and Gloria’s two sons, Seth, and his wife Jennifer, and his children, Hannah, Tom, and Elsa; and David and his partner, Pilar Jones; and many other family and friends.
Sisco will be deeply missed by his younger sister, Claudia Jo Malo and her husband, Butch; younger brother, Joy Monroe Deen and his wife Linda; and their children and all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to thank the nurses at the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House for the care and compassion they showed Sisco and our family in his final days.
