ROBERTA “ANNIE” DURRETT CARTE FAYETTVILLE – Roberta Ann “Annie” Durrett Carte died Sunday, August 10, 2014 at Cabell-Huntington Hospital. Born on June 14, 1956 in Fayetteville, she was the daughter of the late Roberta Pauline and William “Bill” Thomas Durrett. Annie was loved by her family, friends, pets and patients. She began her 37 years serving others as an RN following her graduation in 1977 from West Virginia Institute of Technology. She continued her education with a BSHSA from WVIT, a BSN from the College of WV; graduate studies at WVCOGS and a MSN from Mountain State University in Beckley. She was nationally certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Annie also served as a Medical Examiner for the State of West Virginia for several years. Annie’s career started as a RN at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD, but her love for West Virginia brought her back to work in Beckley, Princeton and Fayetteville. “Doctor Annie” has been employed as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Fayette Clinic in Lochgelly, WV since 2003. Annie was an elder in the Presbyterian Church. She sang in the choir at her church and with the Fayetteville Community Choir. She was a member of the Fayetteville Rotary Club and will be remembered by all whom she served with her advice, love and helping hands. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Allen “Charlie” Durrett. Left with many happy memories includes her loving husband, Lawrence Andrew (Andy) Carte of Fayetteville; brother, William Thomas “Tom” Durrett Jr. and wife, Loretta of St. Albans; brother, Gary Durrett and wife, Van of The Villages, FL; sister, Elizabeth “Betsy” Turner and husband, Bruce of Port Orange, FL; and sister-in-law, Robin Durrett of Beckley. Annie’s wishes were to be cremated and a private family celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
