Born on September 12, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Emmett Oswell Wiseman and Clarissa Wiseman.
Mary Virginia was a member of Fayetteville United Methodist Church. She graduated from WVU and taught 4th grade for 28 years at Fayetteville Elementary School. Mary Virginia was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Fayetteville Women’s Club, UDC, Senior Circle in Oak Hill, loved participating in the Come on Home Reunion, loved collecting ceramic dogs, collecting magnets from her many travels, and had a great love for animals.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Porter Lewis; brothers, Hugh Wiseman and Emmett Wiseman; sister, Margaret Stump; and son, Mitchell Lewis.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Porter William “Bill” Lewis and wife, Kari, and Will Emmett Lewis and wife, Anne; one daughter, Lorrie Ann Lewis; and six grandchildren; step-sisters, Mary Elizabeth Corder and Ann Holden; and step-brother, Sonny Hash.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, August 15th, 2020 at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Pastor Rick Crawford officiating. Burial will follow at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
