Born on November 17, 1925 at Swiss, he was the son of the late Ollie and Carrie Hypes Grose.
Jim proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II where he received two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He was a member of Fayetteville Baptist Church and was a retired mechanic from Alloy Industries with 29 years of service.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Juanita Fern Badgley Grose; and sisters, Faye Long, Opal Winebrenner, and Martha Brackens.
Left to cherish many wonderful memories include his two daughters: Barbara Ann Grose Ennis and husband John of Fincastle, VA and Judith Lynn Grose Spearen and husband Richard of Fayetteville; grandchildren: Angela and Gary Smith of Fincastle, VA; Melissa and Todd St. Clair of Painted Post, NY, Kelley and Andy Weis, Kenny Spearen and Tina Spangler, Tracey and Jimmy Bailes of Fayetteville, Leslie and Steve Crowder of Fincastle, VA, Richard Spearen II and Erin of Fayetteville; great-grandchildren: Carrie Smith Millington and husband, Chris and Emily Smith, Rebecca and Benjamin St. Clair, Jessica Weis Shockey and husband, Jonathan and Drew Weis and wife Desirae, Aiden Weis, Jamie and Sarah Spearen, Brooke and Lauren Spangler, Willie Spearen, and Tucker Spearen, Reilly Stowers and Zachery Barker, Caleb and Faith Bailes, and Kaitlyn Crowder; great-great grandchildren: Jeremy Shockey, Korbin and Kendra Cullum, and Jaden Millington; and sister: Vera Grose Fowlkes and husband, James.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Fayetteville Baptist Church with Pastor Ron George, Jr. and Pastor Danny Goins officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Juanita, at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Fayetteville Baptist Church.
