Major Stanley Carl (Stosh) Stankiewicz, US Army (Ret), age 89, of Fayetteville, NC went to his eternal rest on Thursday, August 18, 2022 in Cape Fear Valley Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Bridgeport CT on September 27, 1932 to John and Mary (Pikarska) Truhowsky Stankiewicz. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by two sisters and six brothers, his first wife, Patricia Dineen, daughter Tamara, and his second wife, Ruth Brewington Moody, and grandson Jonathan Sanderson.
He is survived by daughters, Shelley (Richard) Casey of Newport, NC and Kim (Norman) Cole of Charleston, SC; Son-in-Law, Jerry Lane of Mount Olive, NC; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; his step-daughters, Billie Jo Sanderson of Lumberton, NC, Sherry Locklear (Vincent) of Red Springs, NC; four grand children and one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
He retired as a Major from the US Army with 20 years of Honorable Service. His decorations include two Bronze Stars, Air Medal, Master Parachute Badge and other commendations and service ribbons. In his second career, he served his community as a Police Officer for the City of Fayetteville, retiring after 15 years of devoted service achieving the rank of Detective. He received an Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate.
Stosh was loved by many and will be missed by all.

A memorial service will be held at Jernigan Warren Funeral Home on Friday, September 2, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. A private interment will be held at a later date
