WILLIAM B. PRENDERGAST Of McLean, Virginia passed away on February 2, 2015. Bill was born on September 25 , 1943 in Hyannis Massachusetts and grew up in Annapolis, Maryland. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Prendergast and his younger brother Richard Prendergast. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Marianne, and his children, Will, Brian, Sam, Maggie and Jack. Bill and his brother Michael and sister Martha and their families remained close throughout his life. A long time resident of McLean, Bill touched many people in the community through his professional career and civic contributions. An active member of St. Luke’s Parish, Bill served as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteered as a CCD instructor for the Parish’s children. Among other contributions to the Parish, Bill chaired the St. Luke’s Capital Campaign. Bill’s career spanned over three decades of service as a professional staff advisor to a prominent Member of Congress and an executive with the Federal Trade Commission, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. After retiring from federal service, Bill was Vice President of the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute. For almost twenty years, Bill and Marianne have been partners in their real estate business. After attending Georgetown University and Washington College, Bill answered the call of his country and served in Vietnam as a military intelligence specialist. The most important part of Bill’s life was his wife and five children. Raising Will, Brian, Sam, Jack and Maggie was his passion. Visitation Friday, February 6 from 6 to 9 pm at St Luke Catholic Church, McLean, VA. Bill’s life will be celebrated with Mass at 11 am on Saturday, February 7th at St. Luke Catholic Church, 7001 Georgetown Pike, McLean, VA 22101.
