Obituary of Richard William Lamb
In Memoriam of Richard William Lamb Today, December 17, 2022, marks two years since the passing of Richard William Lamb. Richard is survived by his beloved wife Noreen Judith Lamb, his two sons, Stephan and Mark Lamb, his grandchildren Lauren, Nicholas and Christian Lamb, and two great-grandchildren, Leon and Maddox Smith Liss. Born in Aberdeen, South Dakota in 1934, Richard grew up on a farm and learned the value of hard work as a very young boy. He later joined the Navy where he saw firsthand the powerful synergy of aligning his own potential with great teamwork, motivation, and commitment. Richard carried these insights with him, both at home and throughout his career, as he sought to build a meaningful and impactful life. Richard graduated from the U.S. Naval Electronic Engineering School and earned his A.S. Degree in Electronic Technology from Humphrey College in 1960. During his career, which spanned more than 45 years, he became president of two construction consulting firms and senior vice president of the largest privately owned construction management firm in the United States. He worked as an in-house expert for a major U.S. law firm specializing in construction litigation and was formally recognized as an expert in claims preparation, litigation support and witness testimony. Richard lectured in the field of construction scheduling, project cost control and construction management. He contributed to several articles on related construction topics and co-authored The Mechanical Contractor's Handbook of Claims Avoidance and Management. Richard was the kind of man you could always turn to for fair, honest advice. He always had a great perspective on any problem, no matter how big or small. For those who knew and loved him, it was Richard's sense of humor, generosity, exceptional work ethic, dedication to excellence and love and care for his family that will continue to motivate and inspire. He is dearly missed.
