Mary Winifred Biddle “Winnie” 91 of Falls Church Virginia passed away peacefully in her home on August 12, 2013.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband Curtis R. Biddle, Sr., three sisters Harriett Daniels, Irene Davis and Constance Sullivan. Mary is survived by her children Curtis R. Biddle & John S. Biddle of Falls Church, Va. and Mary Biddle Visyak of Orlando, Fl. Grandchildren, Courtney Biddle of Lorton, Va., Stephanie Biddle of Pittsburgh, Pa., Marc Biddle of Falls Church, Va. and Nick Biddle of St. Petersburg Beach, Fl., Great Grandchildren, Courtney Fletcher, Tara Grabowski and Bailey Grabowski of Pittsburg, Pa. Nick Biddle, Jr., Austin Biddle and Aiden Biddle of St. Petersburg Beach, Fl. Sister, Sarah Carroll and Brother, William Tyrrell of Maurertown, Va. as well as hundreds of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her faithful pets Domino & Kaia.
Mary was born in Washington, D.C. on May 3, 1922 to William & Teresa Tyrrell. She graduated from Eastern High School. Mary was a lifelong civil servant who worked at Arlington Hall and other federal government facilities and finished her career at the Pentagon as a cryptographer in the Europe and Middle East Division. Mary won dozens of merit and service awards during her tenure at the Pentagon and worked under General William Westmoreland.
Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, cooking and travel to Atlantic City. She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was a devout Catholic.
Friends may call at the MURPHY FALLS CHURCH FUNERAL HOME, 1102 W. Broad St., (RT. 7) Falls Church, Virginia. Visitation will be held Monday, August 19, 2013 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at Murphy’s Funeral Home in Falls Church, Virginia. A Catholic funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 10:00AM at St. James Catholic Church, Falls Church, Va. with interment beside her beloved husband Curtis R. Biddle, Sr. at Quantico National Cemetery Quantico, Virginia. Wake for family and friends to follow interment.
