Obituary of Marjory P. Lawson
MARJORY ANN POSTON LAWSON Died Tuesday, March 19, 2013 peacefully in her sleep of natural causes. She was born in Meadow View Virginia to James and Eula Poston and had two sisters, Shirley and Marilyn, who have both predeceased her. Marjory, along with her sisters, spent her childhood in 23 different states attending many different schools while their father set up Home Loan Bank offices across the country as part of President Roosevelt's "New Deal" policies. During this time, her Grandparents, King and Rebecca Poston, along with her father and several uncles were the last family to own Sully Plantation, near Dulles Airport as a working farm. She and her siblings spent a lot of family time there during their childhood. Eventually the Poston Family settled down in the Lyon Village community of Arlington where she attended Washington & Lee high school. After high school, she attended Radford, which at that time was the women's college of VPI and eventually transferred to Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg obtaining a Degree in Home Economics and Nutrition. In 1954, she married William Barnes Lawson Jr, an attorney with Adams Porter & Radigan and lived at 2301 N. Richmond St. and they later constructed a larger home at 2745 N. Randolph St. She is survived by three children, Barnes Lawson Jr. Randy Lawson and Dianne Lawson and five grandchildren, Stephen Gavin, Katherine, Braedon, Cortland and Will Lawson. During their marriage, Marjory and Barnes traveled extensively. They loved dining out and sharing a bottle of wine. They had a very long running Gin Rummy card game between themselves and when going to dine out they often did not decide where they were going until they got to the top of the road and had to either go left or right, which eventually lead them to their final dinning destination. Once Barnes retired, they spent the winters, in Ft Lauderdale Florida at their condominium overlooking the Port Everglades inlet.
