Peggy Kurtzke, 96, of Falls Church, Virginia, died peacefully at her home of more than six decades. Born in New York City, upon graduation from Saint John’s University, she became a chemist with the Pfizer Corporation. There she worked on research and development on drugs such as Bacitracin.
She is predeceased by her siblings John and Robert, her loving husband John, to whom she was married for 65 years, two of her children, Patricia and Rev. John F. Kurtzke, Jr., C.S.C., her son-in-law Keith Siebert, and grandson-in-law Brian Coughlan.
Peggy was an avid reader who loved to travel with her husband. Together they visited many countries even taking courses in French and Faroese languages. She loved classical music and was a particular fan of the Boston Pops. She was an active member of Saint James Catholic Church where she volunteered in a variety of ministries.
She is survived by her children Catherine Brown (Stephen), Elizabeth Siebert, Joan Brennan (Philip), Robert (Leala), James (Kate), and Christine Hughes (Paul), 21 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 1:00pm at Saint James Catholic Church, 905 Park Avenue, Falls Church, VA 22046.
