IN THE CARE OF

Murphy Funeral Homes

Joseph (Jay) Amatangelo IV, 31, of Gambrills, MD, passed away suddenly on November 24, 2024. Jay was an amazing son, brother, cousin and friend to all. Born September 25, 1993, in Washington DC, Jay spent much of his life between Northern Virginia, Richmond, and Maryland. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a minor in Geology, from Radford University and worked for over nine years for Keany Produce. Jay was a huge sports fan, following all the Washington teams, Nationals, Commanders and Capitals, despite his father’s insistence he be a Pittsburgh fan. He was also a big supporter of the University of Virginia and was very proud when his sister was able to attend his favorite school. Jay was preceded in death by his mother, Susan K. Amatangelo whom he adored like no other. It is comforting to know that he will now be reunited with her and others who have gone before him. Jay leaves behind his father and stepmother, Joe and Gina Amatangelo, his beloved sister Mara, stepsisters Lindsay (Connor) Skeens and Kelsey Steranko, grandparents Joe and Jeanne Amatangelo along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and friends who will all miss him dearly. Jay will always be remembered as the guy that kept getting better with age. He turned into a true leader and had a ton of knowledge when it came to almost any subject. Everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him will remember him for his hilarious impressions, encyclopedic knowledge of sports facts, and his unending loyalty to those he loved. Visitation Friday, November 29, 4 to 8 p.m., at Murphy’s Funeral Home of Falls Church, 1102 W. Broad St, Falls Church, VA 22046.
