Joan Manuszak Robertson

Joan Manuszak Robertson, 88, died peacefully at her home in McLean, VA, on July 11, 2024. She was born in Reading, PA, December 11, 1935, daughter of the late Stephanie T. Manuszak and Dr. Thaddeus “Ted” J. Manuszak. A graduate of Reading Central Catholic High School and the College of New Rochelle, Joan earned a Master of Social Work from Catholic University. She was brilliant, dedicated, and passionate in all aspects of her life -- as a mother, wife, social worker, tutor, card player, reader, beach goer, swim teacher, bowler, and cook. Those who knew her were honored to experience her humor, formidable intelligence, and unswerving loyalty. Joan filled her home as she lived her life: with love, games, books, laughter, and the memories of many happy family vacations in Bethany Beach, DE. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Robert H. Robertson and her sister Carolyn S. Manuszak, former President of Villa Julie College. She is survived by her four children Robert S. Robertson, David J. (Karen) Robertson, Louise J. Robertson, and Carolyn A. (Richard) Bowen, her grandchildren Linsey, Dalton, Katie, Zack, Wyatt, Kyle, Megan, Carrie, Ben, and Andy, and many beloved great grandchildren. A viewing is scheduled Friday, July 19, from 4-7pm at Murphy Funeral Home (1102 West Broad Street, Falls Church, VA). A funeral service is scheduled Saturday, July 20, 12pm, at St. John’s Catholic Church (6420 Linway Terrace, McLean, VA); the burial will be held later that day at 2pm at Fairfax Memorial Park (9900 Braddock Road, Fairfax, VA).
