James Warren Smith

James Warren Smith a resident of Greenspring Village died at 89 years of age. He was born in Washington D.C. on April 22, 1928 to Lindell Smith & Robena Poole, and has resided his whole life in and around Virginia and Washington D.C., with the exception of two years he served as a Naval Seaman 1st Class from 1945 – 1947 and considered a WWII veteran.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Alene Taylor of 63 years, his parents, brother - Lindell jr. and sister – Yvonne Alexander. He leaves a brother William L. Smith and many nieces and nephews.
James retired from a managerial position at the Washington Gas Company on February 28th, 1984.
He was a very active member of the Springfield Car Rally Club in the 50’s and 60’s as an entry driver and organizer.
He and Alene both has pilots’ licenses and loved to travel.
