Murphy Funeral Homes
James (Jamie) Edward Houck IV, 45 years old, of Fairfax, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on April 6, 2023. James was born on December 28, 1977, in La Plata, Maryland, to James Edward Houck III and Deborah George.
James was a graduate of Mount Vernon high school. He enjoyed a long career in information technology, most recently serving as a Senior Configuration Analyst at Peraton in Fairfax. James had many interests, including taking his Newfoundland dog, Lucy, for walks around his neighborhood in Fairfax City and playing ping pong—especially during Lake Gaston Houck family tournaments. He never missed a Washington Commanders game and enjoyed rooting for any team playing the Cowboys. Above all, his greatest passion was being a devoted husband and father, finding fulfillment and pride in supporting his son’s success in all his endeavors.
James is preceded in death by his grandfathers, James (Ed) Edward Houck Jr. and Ronald Cleland; grandmother, Helen Veronica Cleland; and his aunt, Terri Whitlow.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa Maguire Houck; son, James (Jimmy) Edward Houck V; brothers, Trevor George, Geoff Bennett (Jocelyn), and Scott Bennett; sister, Tami Oliver (Guy); parents, Deborah Cleland George (Steve); father, James (Jim) Edward Houck III (Pat); grandmother, Doris Houck; uncle, Joe Houck (Vicky); aunts, Denise Robey (John), Patty Houck, Jo Marie Jarboe (Mike), Barbara Richards, Shelli Crosswell (Mitch), Ronna Hayden, and Cindy Roach; nieces, Courtney Seda (Carlos), Brittany White, Antonia Maguire, and Catherine Maguire; and nephews, Bryan Hayden, Clay Maguire, Donovan Bennett, and Gavin Bennett.
