Hannah Leigh Mahach was born on January 28, 1997 at 8.11 pm. She was the first of three babies delivered on that blustery Tuesday night to Karen and Roger Mahach. From the very first moments of her life she had a sparkle of joy that those who spent time with her always remarked on. As a baby she loved being held and rocked to sleep; she loved having her little feet rubbed; she loved “swimming” in the bath tub; and she was a master of making art with her baby food. Later she moved on to commanding a fleet of vehicles parked in our garage-the hot pink Barbie Jeep, the Tonka tractor, and her brother’s green scooter. Animals were her life’s passion, even from a very young age. Butterflies, caterpillars, lightening bugs, mice, chipmunks, hamsters, birds, turtles, Guinea Pigs, kittens, cats, puppies, dogs, hedgehogs, baby goats, and rabbits. Animals brought her a sense of joy and peace that was a thing to behold-and it was contagious! Highlights of her later life were learning to surf in the cold waters near San Jose, California; swimming with dolphins in Florida; helping at Vacation Bible School; going on church mission trips; starting her own pet and babysitting “business”; being a moderator on several animal themed web communities; and volunteering as an ESL tutor at Wexford Manor. She had a love of God, singing, writing, drawing, basketball, and soccer. She loved being around young children, the elderly, her close friends, and her large extended family. Sadly for all of us her life ended tragically and unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 29th, 2014.
Sweetest Hannah, there are no words that can express the sense of loss that
your family and friends feel. We take great comfort in knowing that you are in a better place, without pain, and full of beautiful sunflowers, butterflies, and animals that run free and unharmed in a heavenly wilderness that is all yours now. We love you and were so very blessed to have almost 18 years with you in this life. Until we meet again in Heaven, your loving family Roger, Karen, Ryan, and Kathryn Mahach.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to the City of Fairfax Animal Shelter.
