Eugene ‘Gene’ Galvin III of Falls Church, VA passed away of natural causes on January 21, 2022. Gene was 90 years old and lived a full life. He passed in the comfort of his home in the arms of his loving wife. Born to Eugene Galvin II and Irene M. Galvin, and raised in the Mission Hill area of Boston, MA. Gene married Mary Moriarty, his high school sweetheart in 1953, and began building his family. A US Navy sailor, Chief Galvin proudly served his country with honors for 30 years until retirement. Following his distinguished career in the US Navy, Gene continued supporting the defense of his country within industry, for another 32 year career. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, in-law, uncle and friend. He is survived by his wife Mary, sons Gene (Sarah), Bob, Thom (Marijo) and Paul (Lisa), and other family members: Grand Children - Lisa Barker, Michael Galvin, Katie Rennie, Marrah Goad, Brandon Galvin, Noah Galvin, Anthony Galvin and Gina Galvin Great Grand Children - Ava Galvin, Wyatt Rogers Oddo, Silas and Sloane Oddo, and Wiley Goad Sister and Brother - Evie Mears (Joe Luna) and Billy (Susan) Galvin Sisters in law - Betty Galvin and Maureen Galvin Beloved Nieces and Nephews Lifetime friend, always considered family, Morris Umansky Gene has now joined his sons (Michael and Richard), parents, brothers and sisters (Kenneth, John ‘Honey’ (Marie), Irene ‘Sister’ Munzert, Gerard, and Richard (Arlene) in Heaven. Gene was a friendly, caring, gentle, respectful, firm yet fair man, and believed in doing what was right. He was a friend to all, and loved by those closest to him. A big sports fan, avid bowler, enjoyed chats around the kitchen table, reminiscing about on his world travels and other life experiences, and playing cards and games. Gene is dearly missed, but he will live on within us and in our fond memories.
