Dorothy Ann Abt

Dotty Abt, 93, of McLean, Virginia passed away on October 12, 2024 from natural causes. Our beloved matriarch was born on February 28, 1931 in Buffalo, NY to Emma and Raymond Baltzly. She graduated from New York State Teachers College with a Bachelors degree in Home Economics. In 1955, she married Irwin E. Abt and began her role as an Army wife and mother, organizing 12 moves during his 25 years of service. While raising her four boys, she was a substitute teacher, sewing instructor from home, Welcome Wagon hostess for the greater McLean area and enjoyed supporting her children and grandchildren at all their various sporting events. Dotty had a successful 40+ year career in real estate sales and in 1984 became a Lifetime Member of the Million Dollar Sales Club.

Irv, her husband of 66 years, predeceased her in 2022. She is survived by her four sons, Bob (Elise), Bill (Syl), Brian (Lori) and Bruce as well as grandchildren Kevin (Katie), Michelle, Kyle, Austin, Tori, Brad (Erica), Allison (Dhruv), Taylor (Lindsay), Linnea and Thomas and great-grandchildren Kamden, Evan, Cora and Reynie. She is also survived by her dear sister, Joan Landes, and ten nieces and nephews. Dotty will be buried with Irv in a private family service at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.
