Donald Albert Dove

Donald Albert Dove, 85, died peacefully on April 16, 2014, at his home at The Virginian in Fairfax, VA. Born in Wahington, D.C., February 18, 1929, to William A. Dove and Helen Ahearn Dove.
Don grew up in D.C. and Arlington, VA, graduating from Washington Lee High School in 1947. Although offered a vocal scholarship to college, he joined the Army, serving six years, including three in Japan and the Philippines, achieving rank of Staff Sergeant. Upon discharge, in 1954, he enrolled at Georgetown University. In Oct 1958, he graduated from George Washington University with a BA in Government; M.A. from George Washington University in 1970.
He had a long and distinguished career in the National Security Agency, followed by 13 years doing similar work for General Dynamics. Outside of work, he researched family genealogy and always carried a camera. He sang in church choirs all his life and recently was recognized for singing 50 years with the Christ Crossman UMC choir, in Falls Church, VA. Don loved classical music and had an extensive collection of recordings. He was, also, a voracious reader. He was a very faithful member of Christ Crossman United Methodist Church where he volunteered for many projects with his good friends there.
Don was predeceased by his parents; his stepmother, Alice K. Dove; and brother, William Dove, Jr. He is survived by his brother, Robert; sister, Diana; many nephews and nieces. He also leaves his second family, The Comley/ Fairbanks.
Funeral service 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 30, at Christ Crossman United Methodist Church, 384 N Washington St., Falls Church, VA, with visitation starting at 10:00AM.
