As Darren Davis's former high school social studies teacher, I appreciated all our conversations about Africa, Chicago, and Rap music. Darren was always a delight in class and respectful to his peers and me. I will miss his infectious smile and laughter, but I hope he is in a better place. If he sees my son in heaven, I hope he gives him a big hug and tells him about the fascinating conversations we had throughout his time in high school.

I am so sorry and very sadden to hear of the loss of Darren. I have known Darren for a long time and just want to say that he had a way of making others smile when he was in a room.  My heart goes out to the family for this great loss.  Sending healing prayers, comfort and peace during this difficult time.  Please accept my deepest condolences.

Darren was such a driven young person with so much talent.  Even when he would drive me crazy he had this way of coming back to the conversation with a plan to help me understand "his side."  Tomorrow is not promised but when such a talent is taken so early in life it is so devastating.  He leaves behind a family that loved and cherished him greatly and my prayers are with them daily.   

As one of Darren's teachers in elementary school, he was insightful,  intelligent,  and adventurous.   Darren was always respectful and willing to help me when I needed him to.  Whenever I ran into his mother, over the years, I enjoyed learning of his accomplishments and knowing of all the opportunities afforded him due to his skills, abilities, interest and intelligence.   Darren was a lover of animals.  The veterinary world will be at a loss.  Darren is a beacon/leader gone too soon.

As his 6th grade teacher, I enjoyed the conversations we shared and your writing assignments were beautiful. You were always a gentleman when I saw you in the area. I always checked on you when I ran into your mom. You will be missed.  An intelligent young man gone too soon.

Darren had so much charisma and talent.  He always tried to make me laugh or smile even in moments where you wanted to cry or shake his hinny to get him to understand a different point of view.  I will cherish the time I spent getting to know him.
