Born in Maadi, Egypt, the son of the late Ned O. Henry and the late Grace (Peterson) Henry he was raised in Cairo, Egypt and then resided in Greenwich, CT for 37 years before splitting his time between Tequesta, FL and Little Compton. He was the grandson of the late Dr. Henry of Assiut, Egypt; famed missionary surgeon.
Stanford graduated from the Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia, PA, The Hill School in Pottstown, PA and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.
He was Corporate Director of Financial Litigation for Union Carbide Corporation at the New York City headquarters for over 40 years before retiring in 1994. A member of Sakonnet Golf Club, Warren’s Point Beach Club, and the P.G. Club he was a former member of the Greenwich Country Club in Greenwich, CT, the Rhode Island Country Club and the P.G.A. National in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
Having been a professional soccer player, he loved many sports including lacrosse, swimming and golf. An avid reader and traveler he was also an artistic gardener. A gentle man and a true gentleman, Stan will be missed and remembered by all who knew him. He loved and always will be loved.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Jainsworth Henry Cern, her husband Tomas and their children, Christian and Ashley Cern; his sister, Patricia Henry Leahy and her husband Judge Albert Leahy; his nephew, William Leahy and his family and niece, Alison Angle and her family.
