Born on May 8 in Battambang, Cambodia, Phon leaves behind a cherished legacy through her seven children: Michael Choun, Sophia Hunt, Sophorn Chay, Phoeun Choun, Phirom Choun, Kara Choun, and Carina Choun. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to 17 grandchildren and a loving great-grandmother to 4 great-grandchildren.
Phon was a woman of quiet strength, radiant warmth, and boundless kindness. Known for her nurturing spirit, she had a natural gift for connecting with others. She had a passion for creatively turning a simple house into a welcoming home, and always greeted everyone with a thoughtful question, a caring heart and a warm meal. Above all else, her love language was rooted in acts of service - specifically through her diverse culinary talents. Every meal was a labor of love that reflected her generous spirit. Her life embodied selflessness, whether through her roles as a mother, a dedicated caretaker, a skilled seamstress, a guiding teacher or an active member at the Cambodian Buddhist temple, Phon always served others with grace and devotion. She was a rare soul whose kindness knew no bounds and her presence will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her.
A Cambodian ceremony will be held on Friday, November 1, at 6:00 PM at the Wat Uddom Saharatanaram Khmer Buddhist Temple in Fall River, MA. The cremation ceremony will follow on Saturday, November 2, at 8:15 AM at the Waring-Sullivan Cherry Place Funeral and Cremation Service in Fall River, MA, continuing to the Swan Point Cemetery in Providence, RI, for 10:00 AM, with a return to the Wat Uddom Saharatanaram Temple by 11:00 AM. Phon’s family and friends are warmly invited to gather in celebration of her life and to honor the memory of an extraordinary woman whose love continues to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
