John Duarte Jr.

John Duarte, Jr., age 91, of Fall River, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at St. Anne’s Hospital. He was the husband of Jacqueline A. (Massoud) Duarte to whom he had been married to for 65 years.

Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late John and Anna (DaSilva) Duarte.

A proud Veteran of the United States Army, John served his country during the Korean War. He worked in the garment industry as a cutter for 40 years, retiring in 1995. Throughout his extensive career, he worked for Stella Ann Frocks as well as multiple other companies. A former member of the American Legion, John was an avid fisherman, gardener, and an all-around handyman. He was an active parishioner of St. Anthony of the Desert.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by three children, David Duarte and his wife Mildred of Fall River, Jeffrey Duarte and his wife Patricia of Falls Church, VA and Doreen Duarte Zebdi and her husband Khalil of Ashburn, VA; two siblings, Alice Raposa of Tiverton and Eugene Duarte of Fall River; seven grandchildren, David Francisco, Jeffrey Andrade, Yeda and her husband Timothy, Yasmin, Karim, Hanna and Leila as well as many nieces and nephews.

His Visitation will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in St. Anthony of the Desert Maronite Catholic Church, 300 N Eastern Ave., Fall River, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are invited. Contributions in John’s honor may be made to the American Legion, 384 Third St., Fall River, MA 02721. Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, 2233 Robeson St., Fall River.
