He served in the United States Marines during Peacetime and worked in the Banking Industry for many years, retiring from Rockland Trust as Vice President of the cash management department. He was also a professor at Johnson and Wales University for over thirty years. He was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and the former president of the Johnson and Wales Alumni Association.
In addition to his wife survivors include: nine children, Mark Gousie and his fiancé Elizabeth Floen of Tiverton, Christine Crawford and her husband Joseph of Florida, Bruce Gousie also of Florida, Kimberlee Glenn and her husband Thomas of Seekonk, Roberta Gousie and her husband Kristian Robinson of Middleboro, Mary Snow and her husband Edward of Cumberland, Shawn Benjamin Gousie of Brockton, Rachelle Correia and her husband Joseph of Somerset and Megan Gousie of Berkley; fifteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother, Joseph Norman Gousie and his wife Addie of Pennsylvania and several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Todd and Jason Gousie and brother of the late Laurent and Lucien Gousie.
His funeral and burial will be private
Arrangements are in the care of Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, Fall River.
