Born in Fall River a son of the late Edward J. and Catherine (Lovett) Dolan he was a lifelong resident of the city.
A veteran of the United States Army he served in the South Pacific Theater under the 864th Engineering Battalion during World War II. A skilled bricklayer, he worked under the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers for over 50 years until his retirement in 1985. Having remained a member of the B.A.C. he was the recipient of an award commemorating his 75 years of service and membership.
A life member of both the VFW, Joseph Fronier Post 486 and the DAV, William S. Greene Chapter #9 he was also a member of the Don Carlos Club in Fall River.
In addition to his companion of many years, Joan Szelag of Fall River, he is survived by his nieces, Ann Welch and her husband Michael, Kathleen Flynn and her husband Matthew and Christine Owca and her husband Bob and nephews, Andrew Dolan and Kerry Boyd, John Dolan and his wife Kim and Michael Dolan and his wife Heather. He was the brother of the late Thomas J. and John A. Dolan and uncle of the late Thomas J. Dolan, Jr.
His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter Street, Fall River followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover Street, Fall River. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4:00 – 7:00 PM.
