Donald E. Eckersley, age 72, of Fall River, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Diane L. (Dussault) Eckersley to whom he has been married for the past fifty years.
Born in Fall River, the son of the late Joseph E. and Bessie (Chatterton) Eckersley, he had been a lifelong resident of the city.
A graduate of Diman DRVTHS, he retired as Plant Manager from Garment Express in 2009.
He enjoyed coaching for the Milliken Basketball League and the Columbus Little League Jets. An avid bowler, he was the secretary for the Slade Bowling League.
In addition to his wife, and beloved dog Ellie, he is survived by two daughters, Karen Reyes (Robert) and Allison Andrade (Brian) all of Fall River; one sister, Nancy Eddy (Bill); one brother, James M. Eckersley and his late wife Debbie; five grandchildren, Aimee Eckersley, Kyle and Timmy, Samantha and Sidney; three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Lauren, and Zackary and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Muriel Blaze, Joseph E. Eckersley Jr. and Thomas J. Eckersley.
His Funeral will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 11:00AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00PM. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River.
