David T. Sullivan, age 87, of Boynton Beach, FL and Portsmouth, RI passed away Thursday, March 31, 2022 at Charlton Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Mary E. (Harrington) Sullivan to whom he was married 51 years before her passing in 2011.
He was born in Fall River, the son of the late Daniel E. and Margaret (Kerr) Sullivan and was a longtime resident of the city. He was the brother of the late Timothy R. Sullivan, Kathryn A. Shea, Daniel A. Sullivan, and Mary Kerr Sullivan.
After earning a B.S. in Textile Engineering from the former Bradford Durfee Technical Institute in 1956, he honorably served in the U.S. Navy until 1958. He earned a Master of Education from Bridgewater State College in 1962. He worked for many years as an Adjustment Counselor for the Fall River Public School Department until his retirement in 1996.
He is survived by three daughters, Laureen S. Berglund and her husband Mark of North Kingstown, RI, Mary Beth Berube and her husband David of North Attleboro, and Sheila Sullivan Duval of Fall River; two sons, David D. Sullivan and his wife Dianne of Cumberland, RI and Daniel F. Sullivan of Middletown, RI; twelve grandchildren, Collin, Matthew, and Alison Berglund, Katelynn, Danielle and Thomas Sullivan, Catherine, Elena, Harrison, and Robert Berube and Rebecca and Rachel Duval; two great-grandchildren, Beau and Ayla; and several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Service will be Thursday, April 7, 2022 at 9:00 AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter Street, Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Holy Name Church 709 Hanover Street, Fall River. Burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.
