David W. "Dave" Souza

Born in Fall River, son of Dorothy (DeAguiar) Souza of Fall River and the late Joseph Souza. He was a lifelong resident of Fall River and was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, held an associate’s degree from Bristol Community College in Fire Science and a Bachelor’s degree from Providence College in Fire Safety and Public Safety.

He served as the fire and safety Inspector for the Fall River Housing Authority for the last eight years and was a member of Local 1990 AFCME Council 93, and Baker’s Beach Club. Dave was a longtime Fire Commissioner for the City of Fall River.

In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by one son; Nicholas O’Neil Souza, two daughters; Andrea Frances Souza and Brenna Jaye Souza all of Fall River, three brothers; Michael Souza and his wife Roseanna of Westport, Steven Souza and his wife Patricia of Fall River and Joseph Souza, Jr. and his wife Susan of Acushnet and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 10AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter Street, Fall River followed by a Funeral Mass at 11AM in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover Street, Fall River, MA. Visiting hours Thursday 3PM-8PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Michael’s Fund, 966 Walnut Street, Fall River, MA 02720.
