Juan de Dios Salazar passed away on April 28, 2011 in a Corpus Christi hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was 82 years old, born in Hebbronville on August 26, 1928 to Maria and Ignacio Salazar.He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Antonio (Gloria) Salazar, San Antonio, TX, sisters Belen Stagnitta, Guadalupe Villarreal and Nina (Rodolfo) Ramirez. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Aurora Eliza Salazar of Hebbronville, his son Abelardo A. Salazar of Harlingen, daughter Magda E. Salazar of Austin, TX, granddaughters Eliza (Daniel) Suse from Monson, Mass. and Gabriella (Adrian Ochoa) Salazar, great-grandchildren Juan Jose Salazar, Maria Celeste Ochoa, Arianna Suse and Eva Aurora Suse, sisters Elsa Benavides of Hebbronville, Minerva Cuellar of San Antonio and Maria Paz Acevedo of San Antonio and brother Jesus (Maria) Salazar of Hebbronville. Juan de Dios was a giving person who often put the needs of others before his. He served in the United States Army/Air Force and was commander of the American Legion Post 357 for more than 20 years. He also served on the JH County School Board. He enjoyed Bar-B-Que-ing for his family gatherings and was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2011 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams in Hebbronville with visiting starting at 3:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2011 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hebbronville.
Interment will follow at the New Hebbronville Cemetery.
