Genevieve “Beva” Hernandez, of Premont, Texas passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021 in Premont at the age of 87. She was born to Alberto M. Garcia and Estela Garcia Garcia in Premont. Beva, along with her husband, Ignacio, were the owners and operators of the Hernandez Meat Market in Premont for over 15 years. She was a workaholic and dedicated over 10 years working with Myane Insulation and many years with the Celanese Plant. She has many skills and earned many certificates in plumbing, carpentry and electricity.
Beva was a member of the St. Theresa’s Catholic Church and Las Guadalupanas. She was a strong believer in her faith and was a dedicated and loving wife and devoted caretaker. She was very giving and always willing to help whomever and whenever she could. She especially loved to cook and prepare meals for others. Beva was a strong and skilled person who was a perfectionist and was never afraid to point out if something wasn’t done to her standards. She loved with all her heart and showed it. She was also a foster parent to three beautiful children. Beva was a lover of all animals, cats being her favorite.
Beva is preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Christopher Hernandez and brother, Salvador Garcia.
Beva is survived by her husband, Ignacio V. Hernandez, Jr. of Premont; sons, Larry Hernandez of Amory, Mississippi, Antonio (Anita) Hernandez of Baytown, Texas and Luis (Lori) Hernandez of Kemmerer, Wyoming; daughters, Nancy (Pedro) Perez of Grand Prairie, Texas and Debra (Russell) Countryman of Keller, Texas; foster children, Christopher Garcia, James Garcia and Amber Garcia all of Premont; brother, Eloy (Adelina) Garcia of Perris, California; sisters, Emma Martinez of San Diego, California, Aurora Hernandez of Kingsville, Texas, Lucinda Pulido of Beggs, Oklahoma and Diana (Fernando) Vargas of Sandia, Texas; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Rosary will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, November 29, 2021 with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias. Funeral Mass will follow at 2:00 p.m. at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Premont with the services to conclude with Burial at the Premont Cemetery.
