Eva Maria Gomez Salinas passed away Thursday September 3, 2020 at Angel Bright Hospice in Corpus Christi in the loving presence of her family. She was welcomed into heaven by our father, Juan Angel Salinas, her great grandson Adam Rey Espino, parents Leopoldo Gomez Mora and Maria Asuncion Perez. In heaven she is also embraced by her sister Edna Gloria Yzaguirre, brother, Leopoldo Gomez Jr., sister in law, Imelda Salinas Reynolds, brother in law, Even Hugo Salinas and nephew Rene Carlos Salinas.
Eva was born on November 6, 1937 in Jim Hogg County, attended El Colegio Altamirano and graduated from Hebbronville High School. She is remembered for her passion for life, laughter, sense of humor, and ability to befriend so many. A lifelong resident of Hebbronville, Eva married the love of her life Juan Angel Salinas on January 6, 1956. She worked for a few years for the Jim Hogg County School District as a teacher’s aide but spent most of her life as a stay at home mom. Juntos Eva y Juan pasaron sus vidas en Hebbronville enjoying the company of many good friends, amazing neighbors and frequent trips to Laredo, Corpus and the valley. Sobre todo, mom adored her four children, David (Griselda), Cinthia, Bryan (Aminta) and Richard (Melissa) and eight grandchildren Amanda Adelle, Sylvia Suzel, Angela Brianna, John Bryan (Alex), Joseph Ryan, Joshua Raye, Jenna Ann and Jayden Rowan as well as two great grandchildren Aayden John Espino and John Bryan III.
After dad passed in 2003, mom had to make many changes to her life but she remained the center of joyous family gatherings, hours of playing Rummikub, dutifully watch the Spurs and shopping whenever she had the chance. Mom spent many hours talking with her sister, Edna Gomez Yzaguirre and brother in law Dan, her dear brother, Leopoldo Gomez and sister in law Chelo, as well as our father’ sister Imelda Salinas Reynolds. Likewise, she took every opportunity to gather with her niece and nephews and their children Donna Sue (Hector), Danny (Claudia), Leo (Rebecca). Her cousins Ramon, Rosa, Dante, Eva Cecelia and Poncho remained close to her heart as well as many many other dear friends. The family would like to offer gracias especiales to her angels Zelma and Ralph Guerrero and the staff at La Paloma Nursing Home in San Diego who thoughtfully cared for her this past year.
As a result of the COVID 19 Virus restrictions, services will all be held on Wednesday September 9 at Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams of Hebbronville. Visitation will be at 8:00 AM with the Rosary following at 9:30 AM. burial will proceed immediately at the New Hebbronville Cemetery in Hebbronville, Texas. For the safety of family and friends there will be no formal gathering after the services.
Pallbearers include John Bryan Salinas Jr, Joseph Ryan Salinas, Joshua Raye Salinas, Charles Reynolds, Daniel Yzaguirre IV and Leopoldo Yzaguirre. Honorary pallbearer Evan Hugo Salinas Jr.
