Edna Gloria Gomez Yzaguirre

Edna Gloria Gomez Yzaguirre was called by the Lord on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at a hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was welcomed into the gates of Heaven by her parents, Leopoldo Gomez Mora and Dora Ramirez Gomez; her grandson,Daniel Yzaguirre, V and her brother-in-law, Juan Salinas.

Edna was born on Christmas day of 1944 in Laredo, Texas. She attended grade school in Hebbronville, Texas and graduated Hebbronville High School with the class of 1963. She later enrolled in the Texas Woman’s University where she received her Bachelor’s degree within three years. On April 27, 1968 she married her soul mate, Daniel Yzaguirre, III. Edna taught for three years in Hebbronville and then moved to Falfurrias, Texas where she continued to loyally teach for the BCISD for 37 years until her retirement. During her employment with BCISD she further continued her education earning three Master’s degrees from Texas A&I University. Edna was very involved with helping people in her community and was a proud member of the Catholic Daughters and Retired Teachers Association. As great of an educator she was, Edna was most proud of her two sons, her grandchildren and her family. They were her pride and joy.

Edna leaves behind to cherish her memories her loving husband of 46 years, Daniel Yzaguirre, III of Falfurrias; two sons, Daniel (Claudia) Yzaguirre, IV and Leopoldo X. (Rebecca) Yzaguirre both of Harlingen, Texas; one brother, Leopoldo (Consuelo) Gomez of Hebbronville; one sister, Eva Salinas of Hebbronville; three grandchildren, Gabriela, Daniela and Diego Daniel; one grandchild on the way, Sarah Edna; one step-grandson, Jaime; 4 nephews and 2 nieces.

Visitation will be at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2013 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias. Burial will follow at the New Hebbronville Cemetery in Hebbronville, Texas.

Pallbearers will be: Rene Yzaguirre, Rene Yzaguirre, Jr., Bryan Salinas, Richard Salinas, Efrain Chapa and Miguel Benavides. Mass lectors will be: Cynthia Salinas and Edna Lee Yzaguirre.
