Celestina Petra Mendez-Pena

Celestina Petra Mendez Pena entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at a hospital in Alice, Texas at the age of 88. She was born on November 4, 1926 to Jorge Mendez and Olivia Lerma in Falfurrias, Texas. She was a loving housewife. Celestina was welcomed into the gates of Heaven by her husband, Golfrey Pena; parents, Jorge and Olivia Mendez; son, Olivero Pena; grandsons, Carlos Pena, Jr. and Joseph Pena; brothers, Guadalupe, Pedro and Jorge Mendez and sisters, Lilia M. Garcia and Ofelia M. Garza.

She leaves behind to cherish her wonderful memories her sons, Tranquilino (Elma) Pena, Mario (Zulema) Pena, Corando (Oralia) Pena, Juan (Thelma) Pena all of Hebbronville, Texas, Jorge (Diane) Pena of Midland, Michigan, Golfrey (Lu) Pena, Jr. of Alice, Silvano (Palmira) Pena of Hebbronville, Carlos (Lucy) Pena of Corpus Christi, Texas and Albert Pena of Hebbronville; daughter, Irene (Elmo) Miller of Belize, Central America; brothers, Emilio Mendez of Chicago and Emiliano Mendez of Somerset; sisters, Olivia M. Garcia of Kingsville, Texas, Leandra Escareno and Isabel Garcia both of Chicago and Beatrice Roberts of Las Vegas; 27 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Martin Pena, Roel Pena, Marcus Pena, Johnny Pena, Jacob Pena, Rene Arnoldo Pena, Silvano Pena, II and Tyler Jordan Handson.

Holy rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams of Hebbronville with visitation starting at 4:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hebbronville.

Burial will follow at the New Hebbronville Cemetery.
