Virginia Estella McIntosh, 69, of Shiloh, passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2021. She was born on August 30, 1952 in East St. Louis to Granville and Gwendolyn (Eubank) McIntosh. Virginia graduated from Belleville East in 1970 and grew up in Fairview Heights. She received her undergraduate degree in home economics at Eastern Illinois University and her master’s degree in special education and an Education Specialist Degree at Southern Illinois University. Virginia dedicated her life to the teaching of children. She was the Regional Director for the special Education District in Jacksonville, IL. Most recently, she worked as an early childhood teacher in Glibert, AZ. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and sending surprise packages to her loved ones.
Survivors include her sisters, Nola M. (Brenda A. Eich) Joyce, Karen (Stephen) Martin and Lynn (Peter) Dowds. Virginia worked to spoil her nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. She enjoyed their play and laughter and then send them home to their parents. Her nieces and nephews include Scott (Mary) Joyce, Shawn (Jess) Martin, Nathan (Danielle) Martin, Megan (James) Cambron, Mary Kate (Craig) Cole and Patrick Dowds; great grandnieces and nephews, Amanda and Mem Joyce, Morgan (Brandon) Gieseking, Hailee Martin, Bryce Martin, Gwendolyn Cambron, Will Cambron and Angela Cole. We will remember her last smile when she heard about the birth of her great-great grandnephew, Broxton Gieseking. She is predeceased by her parents and brother, Steven McIntosh.
Memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N. Illinois St., Fairview Heights, Illinois 62208. Inurnment in Lake View Memorial Gardens.
