Richard Edward Giles

Richard E. “Rick” Giles, 68, born August 2, 1949, in Collinsville, IL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Rick was a 1967 graduate of Collinsville High School and SIU-Edwardsville, majoring in Business Administration. He was a U. S. Army Veteran. Rick worked at Hollywood Candy Company in Centralia, IL as Manager of Human Resources. He also was employed by United Technologies and Phillips Service Company as Director of Human Resources before his retirement.

Rick was an avid golfer and St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan. His favorite golf memories were his trips to the Master’s Tournaments in Augusta, Georgia. He loved to bar-b-que and spend time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin H. and Joyce A. (Earthal) Giles.

Surviving is his wife of 40 years, Karen E. (Murphy) Giles, whom he married on April 29, 1977; three children, Kerstin (David) Schmitz of Smithton, IL., Stacey (Jeremy) Rank of Smithton, IL., and Derek Giles of St. Peters, MO; 3 grandchildren, D.J. Schmitz, Addyson and Austin Rank of Smithton, IL; brother Ben (Judy) Giles of Collinsville, IL, nieces and nephews, cousins and other extended family members.

Visitation: Friends and family may visit from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Lake View Funeral Home, located at 5000 N Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, Illinois 62208.

Memorial Service: A Memorial Service will be held immediately following the memorial visitation at 12:00 pm, Lake View Funeral Home. Inurnment to take place at Lake View Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
