Marjorie J. Mueth, nee Hempen, 102, of Waterloo, passed away peacefully, Saturday, April 29, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born October 31, 1920 in New Baden, IL to Henry and Augusta (Mann) Hempen. In 1938, Marjorie graduated from New Baden High School. She attended Rubicam Business School in St. Louis after graduation and worked as a secretary at United Rexall Drug Company in St. Louis from 1942-1945. Marjorie married Charles Mueth April 14, 1945 in New Baden, IL. She was a devoted homemaker, Den Mother and Brownie/Girl Scout Leader. She loved dancing and music of any kind. She enjoyed playing cards, especially rummy, and usually won! Throughout her life, she sent cards to all her family and friends for their birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and any other event in their lives. The past few years, sending cards ceased but she reaped the kindness she showed all those years by receiving many cards and notes from those same family and friends, which meant so much to Marjorie. Family was important to her and she loved spending time with them. She showed resilience and faith in all obstacles she faced. Her quiet strength was an inspiration to all.
Survivors left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Jean (Mike) Dayton and June (Art) Johnson; grandchildren, Eric Mueth, Jenna (Chad) Edward and Brandon (Kelsie) Johnson; great-grandchildren, Serenity and Penelope Mueth, Coen and Adrianna Edwards and Reya Johnson; “honorary” family, Marilynn and Darrell Tindall. Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Augusta (Mann) Hempen; brother, Ben Hempen; sister, Marilyn Griesbaum; husband, Charles Mueth; daughter, Jane Mueth; son, John Mueth and granddaughter, Cara Johnson Prewitt.
