Kathy Lynn Hansen, age 78, of Granite City, Illinois passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024. Kathy was born to Barney and Adele (nee Zaepert) Varady on February 12, 1946, in East St. Louis, Illinois.
Kathy was outgoing and known to be outspoken; her whisper was not a whisper!
Kathy was married to the “love of her life”, John Frank Hansen for 59 years. She cherished and loved her husband and family; and was very protective of them, especially her grandchildren!
Kathy especially enjoyed working crossword puzzles, “her wine”, hot tea, ice cream (butter pecan was her favorite), as well as watching the Animal Planet.
Kathy absolutely adored her “fur babies” and regarded them as her “grandkids”. She was also fond of hummingbirds.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Barney and Adele Varady, brothers, Robert “Bob” Varady and Kenneth Varady, along with numerous of her “fur babies”.
Kathy is survived by her loving husband, John Frank Hansen; daughter, Christi (Boyd) Foreman; son, Mike (Sheryl) Hansen; grandchildren, Levi (Chelsey) Foreman, Sierra Hansen, and Makenzee Hansen; great-granddaughter, Bella Foreman; brothers, Art (Sandy) Varady, Danny Varady, and Gary Varady; numerous nieces and nephews, and her fur baby, “Roscoe”.
A visitation for Kathy will be held Sunday, November 24, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 North Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, IL 62208. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM, followed by the committal.
