Charles was born to parents Harry M. and Helen K. (Colwell) Hahne on June 08, 1935 in East St. Louis, IL. He grew up as the middle child of three and attended East Side High School. In 1955, after a blind date, he married his childhood acquaintance, Nancy Ward. On April 22, 2021 they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. The couple had two beautiful daughters, Jean (Walker) Hahne and Debbie (Calahan) Hahne
Charles worked for ADM, formerly St. Louis Grain until his retirement in 1997. During his tenure, he served as the workers Union Representative and later became Vice President of the International Long Shoreman Union. After retirement he enjoyed his free time fishing at Truman Lake, hunting small game, manicuring his lawn and spending time with his beloved wife and family.
Charles is survived by his wife Nancy (Ward) Hahne; daughters, Debbie (Hahne) Calahan and Jean (Hahne) Walker (Steve Walker); six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Joann Evansco; his parents Harry M. Sr. and Helen K. (Colwell) Hahne; his brother, Harry M. Hahne Jr. and his grandchild Anthony “Tony” J. Hahne.
The family has entrusted Lake View Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens with arrangements. Cremation rites will be accorded and inurnment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens. Due to the current pandemic surrounding us all, there will be a Celebration of Life gathering at a later date.
