Shirley Mary Pelland

Shirley M. (Boucher) Pelland, age 93 of Acushnet, passed away Monday, November 14, 2022 in St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Maurice L. Pelland for 54 years.

She was born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Arthur and Katherine (Marshall) Boucher. Shirley was a graduate of Fairhaven High School, where she excelled in athletics, was the President of the Girls Athletic Association, and was inducted into the Fairhaven High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002.

Mrs. Pelland was a homemaker for most of her life raising her six children and worked for several years in the retail industry. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Fairhaven where she was a member of the Golden Ages Club.

Shirley is survived by her six children, Kenneth Pelland and his wife Kathleen of Fairhaven, Kathleen LeBlanc and her husband Maurice of Acushnet, Patricia E. Regan and her husband Richard of New Bedford, Theresa Pelland of Acushnet, Kevin T. Pelland Sr. his wife Sharon of E. Freetown and James A. Pelland Sr and his wife Kelly of Fairhaven; eleven grandchildren Jason Pelland (Lynne), Ryan Pelland (Stacey), Beth Methia (Ryan), Andrea LeBlanc (Eric Hines), Evan Regan, Julie Regan, Tracy Pelland, Kevin T. Pelland Jr. (Lily), Katie Pelland (Chad Williams), James A. Pelland Jr and Abbey Pelland; nine great-grandchildren; a sister Barbara Machado of Fairhaven and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Pelland was also the sister of the late June Perry and Arthur, Richard and Raymond Boucher.

Her Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 11am at St. Mary’s Church, 440 Main St., Fairhaven. Her family will greet family and friends from 10-11am in the church prior to her mass.
