Raymond J. Brodeur, Jr., 65, of Rochester, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston following a long illness. He was the husband of Linda C. (Santos) Brodeur with whom he shared 44 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Raymond J. Brodeur, Sr. and Alice (Richards) Brodeur, he had resided in Rochester for the past 40 years.
He was a graduate of Bishop Stang High School and a member of their football team.
Mr. Brodeur was the president and third generation owner along with his brother of Brodeur Machine Company which was originated by their grandfather.
Ray had many interests including boating, gardening, gourmet cooking, collecting wine, traveling and RV travel. He was a sports car enthusiast who especially enjoyed Porsches and was a lifetime member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association.
Most of all, Ray loved spending time with his loving family.
Surviving in addition to his wife is his son, Michael Brodeur and his wife Rosemary of Somerset; his daughter, Rebecca Brodeur-Gould and her husband Delland of East Chatham, NY; a sister, Louise Hughes and her husband David of Rochester; two brothers, Mark Brodeur and his wife Nina of Cuttyhunk Island and Richard Brodeur of Fairhaven; three grandchildren, Benjamin and Claire Brodeur and Genevieve Gould; his mother-in-law, Bertha Santos; and twenty three nieces and nephews.
He was the son-in-law of the late John Santos.
His funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 10am in St. Francis Xavier Parish, 125 Main St., Acushnet. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday 4-8pm in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
