Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Shelbenno J. and Mary (Marinelli) Thomas he lived most his life in Fairhaven.
Mr. Thomas served in the United States Coast Guard and later worked for Verizon as an installer for 35 years.
He is survived by two sisters, Theresa Chouinard of New Bedford and Anne Donato of Marion and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Joan M. Galligan formerly of Fairhaven.
His Funeral will be held on Friday, June 26, 2015 at 9am from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME of MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at FAIRLAWN, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven followed by a Funeral Mass at 10am in St. Joseph’s Church, 74 Spring St., Fairhaven. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Bedford. Visiting hours Thursday 4-7 pm. Donations in Joseph’s memory may be made to the St. Anthony of Padua Church Food Bank, 1359 Acushnet Ave., New Bedford, MA 02746.
