John Andrews, Jr., age 86, of Acushnet, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Marlene F. (Warwick) Andrews who passed away six months ago.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late John Andrews Sr. and Mary (Ferro) Andrews, he lived most of his life in Acushnet.
Mr. Andrews had worked as a talented fiberglass molder who worked at Elen Boat Works, Vaitses and retired from Cape Cod Ship Building in 1997.
John enjoyed stock cars, stock car racing and also antique cars. His own stock car was #3. He was a mechanic on his son Brian’s stock car team from 1973 until the early 90’s, racing in Lakeville, Seekonk, Westborough, Thompson, CT and Lee Raceway in Lee, New Hampshire. John also loved hunting and fishing. He enjoyed the company of his loving children and his beloved pets.
His family includes a daughter, Betty Andrews of Mattapoisett; a son, Brian J. Andrews and his wife Telvina of Dartmouth; a granddaughter, Amy E. Ratliff and her husband Glenn of Noble, Oklahoma; a step-grandson, Justin Tetreault; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018 from 9:00-11:00am with a Celebration of Life at 11:00am in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME AT FAIRLAWN, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven. Burial will follow in Acushnet Cemetery, 91 Main St., Acushnet.
