Sherry Lynn Davenport

Sherry Lynn Arlidge Davenport passed away on May 5, 2016 at the age of 61. She was born April 24, 1955 in Blossburg, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Richard and the late Mary Elizabeth Watkins Arlidge. She is a 1976 graduate of Bucknell University, and earned a Master’s degree in Education from Georgetown College and a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the U. S. Army War College. She retired from Federal civilian service in 2008 having worked for the Department of the Army as an Acquisition and Foreign Assistance Specialist. She was a member of the Army Reserve and retired after thirty-one years at the rank of Colonel, with her final assignment being in the Office of the Secretary of Defense as a Desk Officer for Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. She was a member of Bruen Chapel, United Methodist Church in Fairfax, Virginia, the American Legion and its Auxiliary, a life member of the Association of the U. S. Army and Association of the Century, Daughters of the American Revolution, a life member of the Reserve Officers Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Elk’s Lodge 2188 and its Auxiliary where she served a number of years as Organist. Mrs. Davenport is survived by her husband Judge Peter M. Davenport, her two children, Sarah Rowe Brown and Westley A. Rowe, one granddaughter, Riki Brown, her father Richard Arlidge, and a sister Lisa Rohler. In lieu of flowers the family would suggest a donation to a Cancer Research organization.
