Mary T. Stradley, 68, of Fairfax, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 10, 2023 after a struggle with the effects of diabetes.
Her husband, Leighton, was with her when she passed.
Mary was born November 18, 1954 in Washington, DC. Her parents were Barbara Winter Leachman and Edward Michael Tierney, Jr., both from Washington, DC. She moved to Fairfax, Virginia where she resided for 45 years before marrying Leighton P. Stradley in April 2000 in Fairfax, Virginia.
Most recently, Mary was involved with social clubs, having served on boards of directors with the Concord Club and Wäshington Sängerbund, both of Washington, DC. Earlier, she served as a caretaker of children private households. She taught at Truro Preschool back in the 1980s.
Mary had much impact on those she came to know. She was interested in the welfare of those had come to know. She often called acquaintances to see how they were. Mary also assisted her mother in her mother’s catering business.
Mary is preceded in death by her brother, Edward Michael Tierney III.
Mary is survived by her husband, Leighton; her sister Elizabeth Tierney Hussey and her nieces and nephews: Heather (Lee) Hussey-Coker, Meagan Elizabeth Hussey, Mary Katherine Hussey and Sean Michael Hussey, and John Denney Tierney; as well as great nieces and nephew: Lily Sophia Holland, Emma Bailey Holland, Preston Flynn Coker, Hadley Winter Coker, Mabel Louise Hussey, and River Elizabeth Loisel.
Visitation will take place at 7pm Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Demaine Funeral Home, 10565 Main St., Fairfax, VA 22030. The funeral service will take place at 1pm Friday, February 17, 2023 at Truro Chapel, 10520 Main St., Fairfax, VA 22030.
