John Francis Nicholas

Lieutenant Colonel John F. Nicholas III, 77, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2024 in hospice care at our home in Centreville VA. He was born at Ft Benning GA on April 7 1946. He is preceded in death by his parents, Colonel John F. Nicholas Jr and Lucy Nicholas, and his brother William Nicholas. John is survived by his wife Loretta Nicholas, their four sons John Nicholas IV, Matthew (Catherine) Nicholas, Russell Nicholas and Stephen Nicholas, two granddaughters Sascha Nicholas and Milla Nicholas, and his sister Susan Nicholas. John retired from the US Army and went on to retire from a government support contractor. A memorial service and burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date. We are so grateful to everyone who walked with us through John’s final days. We will always carry your loving memory in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, we request donations in John’s memory to The Brain Foundation of which John served on its board for many years.
