Joann Beverly Younker

June 4, 2014 Joann Beverly Younker Peacefully passed away at home surrounded by the love and presence of her family. She was a strong woman who kept fighting through the many illnesses during her life. A fighter who when given two weeks, took three and gave her family that one more week with her characteristic wit and humor. A person that was always ready with a funny comeback, joke, or song. She worked in food service for Fairfax County Schools for 29 years where she met many dear friends. She especially enjoyed meeting and joking with the students as they passed through her line. Joann loved sharing in the sporting, musical and school events of her grandchildren. She also shared many fun times with friends at various Shriner functions. A peaceful and relaxing time was spent watching the hummingbirds at the feeders on her back deck. Joann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed by her loving and doting husband Don of nearly 59 years, daughter Rhonda (Bill), son Ross (Susie), grandchildren Bryan, Michael, Brandy, and Bill (Beth), great grandchildren Alex, Brayden, Liam, Colin and Dylan. Visitation with the family will be held on June 14th at 2:00pm with a memorial service to follow at 3:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
